On November 14, 2024, a successful collaboration between the Adiluhung Nusantara Education Foundation (YPAN), the Banyuwangi Regency Government, and the Association of Regencies throughout Indonesia (APKASI) resulted in the Mini English Camp “Ant System” for selected schools in Banyuwangi Regency, involving 5 schools. The four-day event, held from November 11-14, 2024, at the Aston Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center, aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in teaching and create a conducive English learning environment for students.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Suratno, S.Pd, M.M., the Head of the Banyuwangi Regency Education Office, who expressed that the introduction of the ‘Ant System’ method was intended to create a conducive ecosystem to motivate and encourage students to improve their English language skills at school.
In alignment with this, Mr. Fais Bayu Wicaksono, the Branch Chairman of YPAN Banyuwangi, emphasized the importance of mastering English in the era of globalization. He stated, “English is the key to seizing opportunities at the international level. Therefore, through the ‘Ant System,’ we aim to introduce creative, innovative, and easily applicable English language learning in schools.”
The ‘Ant System’ method is an English language learning approach that emphasizes using English in real and enjoyable contexts. Over the four days, participants engaged in various activities, including Training of Trainers (TOT), where they were trained to become English language trainers using the ‘Ant System’ method to train other teachers in their respective schools. This was followed by the socialization of the ‘Ant System’ SOP, where participants were introduced to the standard procedures for implementing the ‘Ant System’ method. Subsequently, there were discussions and implementations where participants discussed how to apply the ‘Ant System’ method in their schools and created action plans.
The organization of the Mini English Camp “Ant System” is expected to significantly enhance the quality of English education in Banyuwangi Regency. Teachers who have undergone this training are expected to become role models and inspire other teachers to create English-speaking environments in schools.
YPAN is committed to enhancing the quality and equity of education in Indonesia through its flagship and specific training programs. Through collaborations with various parties, including local governments, YPAN strives to create a conducive learning ecosystem across the country, with the hope of nurturing a golden generation of Indonesians ready to face global challenges.
